Dolphin Stamp
Dolphin Stamp
From the limited edition Holly Sanders x The Teaching Tools collection.
Artwork: "Dolphin"
The dolphin is an important sacred animal for many Saltwater First Nations people. Many First Nations people have a special relationship with dolphins. Interactions between First Nations people across Australia and dolphins pre-date European history by a very long way. Dolphins were used to help First Nations people hunt fish by chasing or herding fish in towards the nets and spears. Along the coast, the presence of dolphins in First Nations cultures is embedded in many forms, from dreaming and creation stories, dolphins recognised as totem animals for various groups and there are many significant sites of art work depicting dolphins.
All descriptions have been written by Holly Sanders, Bundjalung artist.
