Bidhi Galing (Big Rain) is a powerful Aboriginal children's picture book by acclaimed Wiradyuri author Anita Heiss, illustrated by Samantha Campbell.
Based on the true story of the Great Flood of Gundagai in 1852, this moving story introduces young readers to two Wiradyuri heroes, Yarri and Jacky Jacky, who risked their lives to rescue people trapped by the devastating floodwaters.

When white settlers begin building on the floodplains, Yarri understands the danger and warns them about the river. His knowledge is ignored, and when the big rains arrive, the river rises dramatically.
Yarri and Jacky Jacky use their knowledge of the river and their courage to navigate the dangerous floodwaters and rescue people stranded by the rising river.
Written in English with key Wiradyuri language woven throughout the story, Bidhi Galing includes a glossary to help young readers understand the language. A QR code also allows readers to hear Anita Heiss read the story aloud.
